with the Berner Symphonieorchester, Mario Venzago conductor
ur debut with the Bern Symphony Orchestra and its chief conductor Mario Venzago! And right at the beginning we are proud to present a very special ceremony: exactly 600 years ago, in 1421, the foundation stone for the construction of the Bern Cathedral was laid.
With numerous chapels, an important baroque organ and, last but not least, the tower - completed in the late 19th century- Bern's main church is an architectural creation between heaven and earth that has grown over the centuries. With a musical ceremony, the BSO, conducted by Mario Venzago, pays homage to the city's sacred landmark. And there can be only one work for this: Joseph Haydn's third oratorio, The Creation. This piece depicts the creation of the world and mankind with the help of three angels, Adam and Eve, arias, recitatives and impressive choruses - a musical cosmos in late classical style that still moves and inspires today. A shortened version will be performed at the first concert in Münster on 11.3. and the complete work will be performed on the second evening on 12.3. in the Casino.
