Matija Bizjan

atija Bizjan was born in 1988 in Ljubljana. He studied solo singing in the Academy of music in Ljubljana where he finished his Masters degree in the class of prof. Matjaz Robavs. He participated in many seminars (H. Lazarska, M, Robavs, N. Brzakovic, P. Maus, H. van der Kamp). In 2013 he won a golden award in Slovenian national singing competition and a public prize in the international opera seminar in Beeskow (Germany). Between 2011 and 2017 he was a regular member of the Choir of Slovenian Philharmonie. Between 2017 and 2019 he was a regular member of ChorWerk Ruhr in Germany. In 2017 he also joined Zürcher Sing-Akademie in Switzerland. Matija occasionally also sings in Norwegian Soloist’s Choir.
Bass singer Matija Bizjan regulary sings as a soloist with different Slovene and foreign conductors (M. Batic, H. F. Zupancic, E. Mihajlovic, I. Svara, A. Makovac, G. Klancic, M. Vatovec, S. Dvorsak, K. Putnins, F. Helgath, S. Sloane, A. Pollak). Among more important solo engagements are his solo recital in Slovenian Philharmonie in 2013, Charpentier’s Te Deum with the Orchestra of Academy of music in Ljubljana and Haydn’s Paukenmesse with Slovenian Philharmonic Orchestra in 2014. The same year he also performed in Sattner’s oratorium Assumptio again with Slovenian Philharmonic Orchestra. In 2015 he was a soloist in Jubilate Deo by a Swiss composer Ivo Antognini in Slovenian Philharmonie. In 2017 he sang a bass solo in Handel’s Dixit Dominus with ChorWerk Ruhr and Bochumer Symphoniker and in 2018 he did the bass solo part in Haendel’s Messiah in Slovenian Philharmonie.
In 2013 he made his debut in Slovenian National Opera house in Ljubljana as Caronte in Monteverdi’s Orpheo. In the same opera house he also did roles of a farmer and a worker in the slovenian youth opera The Shepherd in 2014 and 2016.
