n 1987 the very first World Symposium on Choral Music was held in Vienna. Since then, the exchange forum for excellent choirs and choral music has been held every three years each time in a different  country - Japan, the USA, the Netherlands, Argentina and, most recently, Spain in 2017.

The 12th Symposium will take place in July 2020 in Auckland, New Zealand. From a huge number of applicants, 24 world-class choirs were invited to present themselves to an international audience - and with pride and joy the Zurich Singing Academy can count itself among them!

In New Zealand we will not only establish new contacts with ensembles from all over the world, but we will also be happy to meet well-known friends such as the Kammerchor Stuttgart or the Ensemble Vocapella Limburg (D).

With the focus on "PEOPLE AND THE LAND", the 12th World Symposium for Choral Music will illuminate various angles of the (sometimes too) great contrast between culture and nature, urban life and wilderness - and the fragile balance of giving and taking between Man and the land that keeps him alive.
